Messy day with Mom

Connor was home from school today so we made the best of it with some fun (and messy) activities. First project - making egg carton flowers. A special gift for Grammy's birthday. Grandma was visiting and assisted with the brushes.

Then we did some "pretend cooking". I filled a muffin tin with a variety of things, gave Connor a bunch of cooking supplies and let him have at it.

How we're spending our Sunday

Daddy's at a pool tournament so we're on our own. So far that means PJs all day, making vanilla honey ice cream, and experimenting with Connors own recipes.

Kite Flying

Trying out Connor's new kite before a spring storm hits.

Entertainment for Jackson as well!

Daddy Time

Our kids can be pretty snuggly, and we're not complaining.

Grammy's Scavenger Hunt

Connor's Grammy outdid herself again with a legendary Easter scavenger hunt for Connor, Jackson, and their cousins.

Look at this gorgeous crew!
There were eggs, but there were also cards, each with an instruction or activity that had to be completed.
Like a bunny dot-to-dot
Or a hunt for pinecones, corn kernels, and flowers
Sometimes a boy needs a little help from his Pap
And a chance to sit on top of his sports car

Egg "Hunt"

We went to the local Easter Egg Hunt, which is actually a competitive egg grab where more than a few kids ended up leaving in tears because they weren't able to successful get any eggs in the 1 minute madness during which 7,000 eggs were scooped up. I don't think we'll be visiting here again, but it was a good idea!

Connor did get to meet the Easter Bunny
And see his cousins!

And in case you're wondering whether that other brother was enjoying his Easter, he did get to try out a swing for the first time
And had plenty of fun at home too - smiley as usual even with a cold
And, he moved on to squash - who needs Easter candy anyway?

Kicking off Easter festivities

Brian had off work for Good Friday so we kept Connor home from school to have a family day. It started off with his 4 year doctor's appt which was great... except for the shot he had to get. :( Still, he recovered quickly and we moved on to Easter fun.

We did the traditional egg dyeing of course
Followed by the not-so-traditional volcano egg dyeing. Mix food coloring with baking soda and water, paint eggs...
Then drop vinegar onto the eggs and watch the colorful magic happen!
Connor made this cool birds nest at school, so we displayed some of his favorite eggs in it
Then that night something I'd been planning on for a while - a glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt! Mini battery-powered lights in the eggs, with treats of course.
This is an attempt to show you what they looked like in the yard. It really doesn't do it justice. Once it was dark, this was SO cool!
